Why does a festival date in Chakra differ from my printed wall calendar?+−
Most printed calendars are set for one city — often Delhi or Ujjain — and printed the same everywhere. A tithi turns over at a moment in the sky, not a national clock, so the civil date it belongs to depends on when the Sun rises where you actually are.
Chakra computes the panchang from your city’s own latitude and longitude, so a festival that lands on Tuesday in Delhi can land on Monday in San Francisco.
How does Chakra calculate panchang timings for my city?+−
Planetary and lunar positions come from the VSOP87 / ELP series via the astronomy-engine library, converted to sidereal with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa. Sunrise and sunset use the NOAA solar-position algorithm at geometric zenith 90.833°, which accounts for atmospheric refraction and the Sun’s apparent radius. Full detail is on the methodology page.

Yes — use the form above with “Aarti, chalisa or stotra request” selected. We add the full Devanagari text alongside a Roman transliteration, and cite the source where one exists.
Is Chakra really ad-free and free of tracking?+−
Yes. No ads, no analytics, no ad pixels, no third-party trackers of any kind. The panchang is computed once at build time and served as static pages — there is nothing running that would need to watch what you do.
