Website

This website is built to need as little of your data as possible. In plain terms:

• No account. There is nothing to sign up for and no login.
• Cookies only if you say yes. By default the site sets no cookies. A banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics (GA4) to count which pages are read. If you choose "No thanks", Google Analytics is never loaded. If you allow it, Google sets analytics cookies and receives page views only: no account, no user id, no ad personalisation. You can change your mind any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer. Your choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not sent to us.
• Ads on the website. The website is free and may show clearly labelled Google AdSense ads on article pages, never on the panchang, the aarti and chalisa text, or the app. Ad cookies are only set if you allow them, once ads are switched on and this page lists them.
• Amazon links. Some pages may link to products on Amazon.in. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission at no cost to you. Amazon sets its own cookies once you open its site, under its own policy.
• Page counts without cookies. Whatever you choose above, we count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not track you across sites. It tells us which pages are read, from roughly which country, so we know which festival and city pages to improve.
• Your location stays in your browser. If you allow the browser location prompt, the coordinates from navigator.geolocation are used only in your browser, to pick the nearest city so we can show you the right panchang. They are never sent to any server and never logged. To show that city’s panchang, your browser then asks for the city’s data file by name, so, as with any page address, our host can see which city it was. It is the city, never your coordinates.
• Remembers your city, on your device only. So the site does not ask every time, it keeps the name of the last city it found for you (for example "mumbai") in your browser’s local storage, and a note that it already asked if you said no. Coordinates are never stored. Nothing is sent to us. You can see both entries and wipe them in the box on this page, or clear site data in your browser.
• Early-access tester group (optional). If you join the early-access tester group, Google shows your Google account email to the group owners. We use it only to run the test and to tell you when the app is available. We do not share it or use it for anything else. Leave the group, or ask at hello@dailychakra.app, and we remove you. Anything you send through the contact form goes to our inbox through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service.
• Anonymous click counts. When you tap an app-store button or join the early-access list, the page sends our own server one line: what happened (for example "store button") and which kind of page it was on. We add the day and your country, and add one to a counter. There is no cookie, no identifier, and no IP address stored, so the count cannot be tied back to you.
• No sale of visitor data. Cloudflare hosts the site and provides the page counts above; Web3Forms delivers the forms described above; Google receives data only as described in the cookie and ads points above.
• Worked out ahead of time, no visitor database. The panchang is calculated before you visit and kept as ready-made data, so nothing has to be worked out from you. The site runs on Cloudflare’s network: most pages are ready-made files, and a small Cloudflare Worker puts together a city’s panchang for a date from that stored data and keeps a copy for a day. Requests do reach that Worker, but it keeps no accounts and no visitor records, and the copies are the same for everyone.

Standard web-server access logs (IP address, request path, user agent) may be retained briefly by Cloudflare, which hosts the site, for security and reliability, as with any website. These are not used to build visitor profiles.

Chakra mobile apps (Android & iOS)

The Chakra apps are a Hindu calendar and panchang for your city. They are ad-free. Core panchang, calendar, vrats, and library work without creating an account.

What we use on the device

• City / approximate location (optional). You can search and pick a city, or allow the device location permission so the app can suggest the nearest city. Coordinates and the city you choose are stored on your device so sunrise, muhurat, and festival civil dates stay correct for where you are. They are not sold, not used for advertising, and not shared with other apps.
• Vrats, bookmarks, tradition, and display preferences. Saved locally so the app remembers what you keep and how you like to read.
• Notifications. If you allow them, the app schedules local reminders (for example a vrat day or parana window). Notification content is generated on your device.
• Home screen widgets. Share a small amount of today’s panchang text with the OS widget host on your device so the widget can update.

Network

• The app may download almanac / festival / scripture content and images from our content CDN so the offline-capable dataset stays current. Those requests are ordinary HTTPS downloads; they are not used to build an advertising profile.
• If you use device location, a one-time reverse-geocode (coordinates → place name) may use the platform geocoding service. Prefer picking a city from search if you do not want that.
• Chakra Plus (optional). Subscriptions are handled by Google Play or the App Store. We use RevenueCat to check entitlement status with a random app user id — not your name or email from Chakra. Purchase records are processed by the store and RevenueCat as needed to keep Plus unlocked.

Usage and crash reports

• Crash reports. If the app crashes, it can send a crash report to Sentry: the error, the app version, the phone model and Android or iOS version. We do not attach your name, email, city, or location.
• Basic usage counts. The app uses Firebase Analytics to count things like how often the app is opened and whether the Plus screen is viewed, so we know what to fix. It uses a random per-install id, not your name or email. We never send your city, location, vrats, or which festivals you follow, and the advertising id is switched off.

What we do not do

• No ads, no ad identifiers for marketing.
• No sale of personal data.
• No social feed, chat, or public profile.
• No analytics that identify you or are used for advertising.

Delete data on the device

Open Settings → Clear All Data in the app. That wipes local preferences, vrats, and related on-device state. There is no Chakra cloud account profile to delete. Store subscriptions are managed in Google Play or App Store settings.
