Govardhan Puja kathaगोवर्धन पूजा कथा

वृन्दावन में लोग हर साल इन्द्र की पूजा करते थे। बालक कृष्ण ने कहा कि हमें पशु और खेत देने वाला गोवर्धन पर्वत है, इसलिए उसकी पूजा करनी चाहिए।

In Vrindavan people worshipped Indra every year. The boy Krishna said it is Govardhan hill that gives them cattle and fields, so the hill deserves the worship.

ग्रामवासियों ने कृष्ण की बात मानी और गोवर्धन की पूजा की। इन्द्र को यह अपमान लगा और उन्होंने मूसलाधार वर्षा शुरू कर दी।

The villagers agreed and worshipped Govardhan. Indra took this as an insult and sent torrential rain.

तब कृष्ण ने अपनी छोटी उँगली पर गोवर्धन पर्वत उठा लिया और सब लोग, पशु और ग्वाले उसके नीचे आ गए। सात दिन तक वर्षा होती रही।

Krishna then lifted Govardhan on his little finger, and the people, cattle and cowherds sheltered under it. The rain went on for seven days.

अन्त में इन्द्र का अभिमान टूटा और उसने क्षमा माँगी। उसी स्मृति में अन्नकूट बनता है और गोवर्धन की पूजा होती है।

In the end Indra's pride broke and he asked forgiveness. In memory of this, Annakut is prepared and Govardhan is worshipped.
