Indira Ekadashi kathaइन्दिरा एकादशी व्रत कथा

महिष्मती नगरी के राजा इन्द्रसेन विष्णु के भक्त थे। एक दिन ऋषि नारद ने उन्हें बताया कि यमलोक में उनके पिता किसी भूल के कारण कष्ट पा रहे हैं।

King Indrasena of the city of Mahishmati was a devotee of Vishnu. One day the sage Narada told him that his father was suffering in Yamaloka because of some fault.

नारद ने इन्दिरा एकादशी का विधान बताया: आश्विन कृष्ण दशमी को स्नान और श्राद्ध, एकादशी को उपवास और रात का जागरण, द्वादशी को विष्णु की पूजा के बाद फिर श्राद्ध और ब्राह्मणों को दान। इस व्रत का पुण्य पिता को अर्पित करना था।

Narada described the Indira Ekadashi vow: on the Ashwin Krishna Dashami bathe and perform a shraddha; on Ekadashi fast and keep a night vigil; on Dvadashi, after worshipping Vishnu, perform the shraddha again and give gifts to Brahmins. The merit was to be given to his father.

राजा ने परिवार और सेवकों के साथ यह व्रत किया। आकाश से फूलों की वर्षा हुई और उनके पिता गरुड़ पर सवार होकर विष्णु के धाम गए। इन्द्रसेन ने भी बहुत समय तक राज्य किया, फिर पुत्र को गद्दी सौंपकर स्वर्ग गए।

The king kept the vow with his family and servants. Flowers rained from the sky, and his father went to Vishnu's abode riding Garuda. Indrasena ruled for many years, then placed his son on the throne and went to heaven.
